Prof. Dr. Moema Pereira Nunes and MBA students from Universidade Feevale in Brazil visit the Chair of International Management
We spent some exciting and insightful days with our visitors from Brazil on and around the university campus.
Welcome to Magdeburg!
After what we felt was a far too long break, we were very happy to welcome Prof. Dr. Moema Pereira Nunes back to the Chair. As a special highlight, she was accompanied by MBA students from Universidade Feevale, who were very eager to gain international experience - even despite the heavy jet lag.
We welcomed our visitors with a little opening reception, where we introduced the OVGU and especially the Faculty of Economics and Management – insider knowledge included. Most importantly, we got to know the students a little bit better, who introduced themselves with the help of three hashtags. Only this much should be said: #travel was a very popular one. They also reported their various expectations for the trip, which we wanted to live up to, of course.
One expectation: gaining international knowledge and experience
In two workshops with Prof. Dr. Christopher Schlägel from the Chair of Behavioral International Management, the students learned about Cross-Cultural Management and doing business in Germany. With a new understanding of culturally-induced differences that may lead to barriers to doing business internationally, the students reflected on their experiences with the Brazilian culture as opposed to the German culture. But not only that! In two other workshops, the students also learned about Startups in Germany, as well as feminism in business.
Another expectation: getting to know Germany
Of course, some fun should not be missing! Since the students expressed great curiosity about the German culture and German food, we did not hesitate to show them around: lunch breaks at the cafeteria and a boat tour on the Elbe river brought our visitors a little closer to the German way of living.
We hope you enjoyed your visit to Magdeburg as much as we did – thank you very much for coming!
