Learning from two experts

How do I start up? To what extent are the start-up ecosystems in Germany and Israel similar and different - and what does it take for a German start-up to expand into the Israeli market? Fifteen master students were able to get to the bottom of these questions. In the master seminar "Strategic Market Analysis," they developed a market analysis for Israel in several case studies. In joint lectures with the students from Shamoon College of Engineering (SCE) in Israel, our international students had the chance to exchange knowledge and listen to the interesting contributions of the invited founders.

Shabi Dagan from Israel was himself a student at the SCE before he started his own business. He founded two technology companies focusing on the analysis of consumer behavior in retail stores in Israel. The second guest is an entrepreneur from Magdeburg. Moritz Spiller, co-founder of SURAG Medical, talked about his journey from being a student of engineering into becoming the founder of a start-up. His advice: “If you're looking to launch a start-up in Germany, make sure you know which sector you belong to and take a look at the major start-up ecosystems in Germany - not only will you find support there, but you can also keep an eye on potential competitors. “

Digital teaching across borders

Even though both entrepreneurs are working in different fields, they are facing similar issues in their founding process, ranging from the bureaucratic process of fund-acquisition or the unique circumstances of their individual environment. The insights given by our guests were really helpful for the students to get an idea of the entrepreneurial journey.

Thanks to digital teaching, all participants could join the discussions - no matter if they were in their home office in Germany, Israel, or somewhere else. Our international students could connect across borders and learn from each other throughout the seminar.

We thank Dr. Neta Kela-Madar from Shamoon College of Engineering and her students as well as our entrepreneurs for sharing their valuable insights with us!
